| I'm an Assistant Professor at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and a senior seminar instructor for the National Guitar Workshop Connecticut campus, while teaching privately on a limited basis. I recently started teaching on-line lessons through Skype too. My first student was Steve Pedulla of Thursday , and though the distance was only within the northern US region, it worked really well. I also regurlarly contribute to international publications like Guitar One magazine (from Sept. '05 to the final June '07 issue), Guitar Player magazine, and Just Jazz Guitar magazine to name a few. Click on this link, Gigs/News, for more information about all of the media outlets where you can check out my work and and to get a heads up on the insane stuff I'm droping this fall/winter 2007! Here's a little background: in 1993, I started teaching out of my house while in college. After receiving my Bachelors of Music degree from William Paterson University in 1995, I continued to teach privately, in local music stores, and in independently owned instructional facilities throughout the NY/NJ area. As a result of all my student's individuality and their need for the same material to be conveyed in so many different ways, I was able to develop methods to effectively explain just about anything. Through the thousands of hours I've spent teaching privates, group classes, and clinics over the past sixteen years, my methods are finely tuned and highly effective. My one-on-one teaching is based on in-depth study of advanced techniques and concepts, while making sure the student's core-knowledge is complete in whatever style they're focusing on. I want all of my students to have the "chops" to perform on their instrument while obtaining the theory of what it is they're playing. At the same time, I try never to let the student lose sight of the end result, the music. I've had great success preparing students for college programs, as well as instructing established musicians to realize new levels in all aspects of their playing. I feel that as a teacher, I've formulated concepts and ideas about my own playing that otherwise would have never have surfaced. In turn, I happily pass these ideas onto my students completing what seems to be an endless circle of shared knowledge. Over the years, I have continued to study as well so I can continually grow as a musician and an instructor. I've been lucky enough to study with the best of the best like Frankie Cicala, Vic Juris, Gerry Carboy, David Fiuczynski, Wayne Krantz, and Mick Goodrick. Check them out and be prepared to be speechless ... I was. In the near future, you will be able to purchase my instructional book on Alfred publishing entitled Jazz Lead Guitar Solos, as well as my up coming 300-page text book for Thomson Course Technology and M-Audio called The M-Audio Guide For The Recording Guitarist! In the meantime you can click on this link to purchase a copy of the Jazz Lead Guitar Solos book. |
