Troy Stetina Digital Guitar Lesson Magazine
The Troy Stetina Series Free Digital Guitar Lesson Magazine is a web-based publication created by über-shredder and master educator Troy Stetina. Together with Troy and guys like Mark Tremonti (yup, the guy from Creed), Michael Angelo Batio (yup, the guy with the double neck who does things no one else can) and myself we aim to bring you a cool online source of guitar goodness packed with some sick s%&t. My contribution to the fold is a column called Blues in the Present Tense where I lay down all kinds of funky fresh blues-related concepts. Be warned: This is not a Blues 101 joint by any stretch nor do any of my concepts follow any kind of “tradition” or “protocol”. The ideas strewn throughout Blues in the Present Tense are meant to get you thinkin’ or re-thinking how you approach this time-honored guitar driven style.

Past & Present Issue Downloads
Below is a trio of links that correspond with of my column, Blues in the Present Tense. The October 2010 link is a four-page PDF that goes with the article entitled It’s All About the Chords. It consists of phat sounding dominant grips ranging from simple 7ths to beefy 9th and 13ths. The November 2010 link corresponds with my second article, It’s Really All About the Chords Tones, Part 1. Clicking that link will steer you towards a ZIP file containing a one chorus (one round of 12 bars) PDF chart for Larry’s Trick - a progression right out of my TrueFire Guitar Lab: Blues Progressions interactive guitar course – as well as an mp3 file of me playing the chart for you that you can play along with. The third and link, Q2 2011, goes with my third article It’s Really All About the Chords Tones, Part 2 where we explore those meaty 9th and 13th extensions big time and have yet another jam to dig on from Guitar Lab: Blues Progressions.
Upcoming Issue News
Theoretically my next submission will be in the Q3 issue of Troy Stetina’s Free Digital Guitar Lesson Magazine where we’ll get down deep with the concept voice leading with an article called Voicings Carry. While the new quarterly schedule was supposed to be January, April, July and October; I honestly have no idea when Q3 will come to life – Troy is a busy guy (that’s the understatement of the century!). Keep checking back for updates and keep your fingers crossed. Until then…
