As a long standing member of Helga Davis’ amazing ensembles, I hooked up with bassist Jason DiMatteo who invited me to play in what would become one of my all-tinme favorite gigs: Lumatic. The band was centered around the amazing Katherine Miller and her eclectic composition skills, which smoothly married the sounds of PJ Harvey and Radiohead contained within the occasional odd time signature if you can imagine that. Along with stellar guitar experimentalists Shahzad Ismaily and Ty Citterman we proceeded to make a great CD together. Though it’s hard to tell who is who if you weren’t there–hell, I can’t tell sometimes– moments such as 0:18 into the tune where I play the hook I contributed or the freely improvised freak out at 1:07 are all mine. So is the the outro madness at 2:54 courtesy of the Lovetone Ring Stinger and more.

While all three guitarists on this CD are doing this tune some major justice, you can hear me laying down the clean, dreamy parts throughout. This is my ‘73 Strat with whammy bar in hand ala Fuze and a little delay and string ‘verb from the ‘65 Pro Reverb.
