The Four Horseman (Solos)
After a rousing debut performance at the National Guitar Workshop, myself and three other mind-bogglingly good guitarists decided to take our newly anointed group, The Four Horsemen, to the next level. We set out to make a CD for the British instrumental guitar label LNR, but with everyone living in various parts of North America, we just couldn’t get the ball rolling. But, alas, we managed to pump out one tune aptly called “The Four Horsemen”, which Dave Martone wrote and produced. The tune features solos from Terry Syrek, James Hogan and myself in a dueling fashion at the end of this nearly nine-minute opus. The snippet here features the following order of events: 0:03 James Hogan, 0:35 Dave Martone, 1:09 me coming in with a Lovetone Ring Stinger followed by my Ibanez JEM777 going straight into a Peavey 6550 head. After a brief kicking in of the Ring Stinger I return to the 6550 with the Whammy II in line, 1:42 Dave Martone, 1:46 Terry Syrek, 1:50 James Hogan, 1:55 more Ring Stinger induced lines from me, 1:59 Dave Martone, 2:03 Terry Syrek, 2:07 James Hogan, 2:11 I take it out with some Wayne Krantz style open string lickage and final sweep from the Ring Stinger. Total devil horn moments.
I highly recommend checking out the entire tune as well as Dave’s solo records in their entirety. Be sure to seek him out as Martone as well as Dave Martone. The brotha can play. You’re welcome 😉
